Promoting Accountability and Competency in Law Enforcement
Karl Mansoor is a retired Albemarle County (VA) police officer who continues to serve the public interest as an advocate for police accountability and transparency.
He began his career in 1991 with the City of Norfolk (VA) Police Department. During his police academy training, Karl Mansoor was honored with the "Kit" Hurst Memorial award for best all around student. While a Norfolk police officer, Mansoor received numerous commendations for his work performance.
In 1994 Mansoor accepted a position as a police officer with the Albemarle County Police. In addition to his duties as a uniformed patrol officer in Albemarle, Mansoor instructed other police officers in various skills and conducted background investigations for prospective police officers.
During that time, Mansoor served as a Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (VA DCJS) Certified Law Enforcement Instructor specializing in defensive tactics and firearms. Mansoor instructed within the Albemarle County Police Department and at the regional police academy. He retired as a Master Police Officer and remains certified with the VA DCJS to instruct private security courses and various law enforcement topics. Mansoor has served as an expert witness concerning police use of force issues.
Karl Mansoor is a member of ILEETA (the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association) and IALEFI (the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors).
Karl is currently writing a non-fiction book concerning police misconduct and getting to the heart of the problem. Examples are provided not only from what Karl witnessed firsthand as a police officer - and his efforts to combat the problem - but from agencies across the country. Substantial evidence indicates police abuse of authority is rising like flood waters. The public needs to pay attention to the growing problem or risk their freedoms being swept away.
